To install the FirstClass v3.5 client for Windows, go into the folder "FCWIN350" and run the setup like you would a normal app.

If you get an error saying you can't install this app on your PC, you're probably using a version of Windows that does not support 16bit apps, and you skipped the Install First option and you will need to go back, and complete that step.

If the setup launches, let the app install on C:\FCWIN, as is the normal location for the client.

Once the install is complete you will need to adjust the properties for the file that launches the client, - "FCClient" as follows:

Under the Compatibility tab, under the section "Compatibility mode" click the checkbox for
"Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".

Lastly, click the check box to "Run this program as administrator" and click "Apply", then "OK".

Finally, if you having done so already, I recommend you right click on the launcher "FCClient" and pin it to your taskbar.

Copy the file in this folder "STRLIGHT.FC" which is the pre-configured settings with everything needed to connect to the BBS and put it in the folder C:\FCWIN\Settings so that when you launch the client, and choose connect it will be listed and you can just double-click on it.

Launch the Client and a gray workspace will fill the screen, - (this can be resized as needed, so that you can drag and drop files on folder in the BBS).

Go to the "Service" menu on the Menu Bar and choose "Connect" and a window will pop up and it should show the Starlight BBS settings file for you to choose, - (STRLIGHT.FC) if you had pasted it in there prior to launching.

You will see a blank line for a username and a blank line for the password. If you are a new user, simply enter the handle you would like to use and the desired password and the BBS will tell you if the name is in use that you want or if it's available, a form will appear and let you proceed with registration.

Read the provided guide in this folder for the Windows FirstClass client for more information, and pictures of the registration process.

Once logged in, email or chat with the Administrator (Sysop) for any assistance.
